SKYLINE AWARDS

Award Objective:

The Los Angeles Chapter of Lambda Alpha International awards its prestigious Skyline Award from time to time to recognize noteworthy and commendable instances of the practical application of the principles of land economics in the preservation, development, or better utilization of the land resources of the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

The Skyline Award originally was an idea developed by our distinguished member, Bill Goodglick of the Goodglick Company. The award was designed to honor projects that demonstrate a contribution not only to good design but also that they "contribute to the greater social fabric of our communities". Bill's vision was to make an award that reflected the best ideals of Lambda Alpha:

" . . . to a better understanding of the principles of land economics . . . in the preservation, development [and] better utilization of the world's land resources . . ."

Reflecting the multi-discipline nature of Lambda Alpha International, the Skyline Award gives weight in its selection process to such elements as:

°  Community benefit
°  Innovative planning
°  Economic impact
°  Architectural merit
°  Social significance
°  Absence of negative impacts
°  Community involvement
